How it works

Remove AI metadata from images in 4 steps

No installation, no account. Every step runs right in your browser.

Features

A professional, free AI metadata cleaner

Complete privacy

All processing runs in Web Workers on your device. No uploads, no storage, no tracking of image content.

Lossless — no re-encoding

Images are never redrawn on a canvas. Only metadata blocks are cut, so sharpness, colors and dimensions stay identical.

Detects AI traces

Finds Content Credentials (C2PA), IPTC DigitalSourceType, Stable Diffusion prompts, ComfyUI workflows, Midjourney, DALL·E and Firefly.

Privacy report

Shows exposed GPS coordinates, author names, camera serial numbers and capture times before you share an image.

6 formats, batch processing

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC/HEIF and AVIF, processed in parallel according to the number of CPU cores on your device.

Looks exactly like the original

Dimensions, orientation, ICC color profile and animation data are always kept, so images display correctly everywhere.

Why us

Why choose All Metadata Cleaner?

Many tools remove metadata, but most upload your photos to a server or re-compress them. Here is how this cleaner compares with the usual alternatives.

Which metadata is removed in each format?

Every format has its own structure. The tool parses that structure instead of redrawing the image.

Guides

Understanding AI image metadata

  • C2PA · Content Credentials

Remove C2PA Content Credentials from Images — Free, No Upload

Photoshop, Lightroom, Firefly, ChatGPT image generation and some cameras attach a signed C2PA manifest — Content Credentials — that records which app or AI model created or edited an image.

  • EXIF · GPS

EXIF Remover — Remove EXIF Data from Photos Online

Photos from phones and cameras carry EXIF data: GPS location, capture time, device model and sometimes a serial number. Anyone who gets the original file can read it.

  • JPG · JPEG

Remove Metadata from JPG Online — Lossless, No Upload

Every JPG from a camera, phone or AI generator can carry EXIF (camera, time, GPS), XMP, IPTC and C2PA Content Credentials. Drop your JPG files into the tool on this page to see exactly what is inside and remove it in one click.

  • PNG · APNG

Remove Metadata from PNG — Prompts, Workflow, XMP & C2PA

PNG files store metadata in text chunks, and AI tools use them heavily: Stable Diffusion writes your prompt and settings, ComfyUI embeds the whole workflow, and editors add XMP or C2PA data.

  • HEIC · HEIF · iPhone

Remove Metadata from HEIC Photos — Keep HEIC, No Upload

iPhones save photos as HEIC, and each one records the device model, capture time and — if location is on — exactly where you were. Edited photos can also carry XMP and C2PA data.

  • C2PA · IPTC · AI check

How to Check If an Image Is AI-Generated (Metadata, C2PA and Beyond)

Wondering whether a photo was made by AI? The fastest reliable check is the file’s own metadata: C2PA Content Credentials, the IPTC DigitalSourceType field and generator text often state exactly which tool created the image.

  • Meta · TikTok · YouTube

Which Platforms Label AI Images? Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and More

Major platforms increasingly show labels such as “AI info” on images and videos. Most of them read the same industry signals embedded in the file — C2PA Content Credentials and IPTC metadata — and combine them with what creators disclose.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Images are read and processed entirely in your browser using Web Workers. You can even go offline after the page loads and the tool keeps working.

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

No. The tool only cuts metadata blocks at the byte level without decoding or re-compressing pixels, so resolution, sharpness and colors stay the same.

Which formats are supported?

JPEG/JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos) and AVIF. Each image can be up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels, with up to 50 images per batch.

What does “AI & provenance: Needs a closer look” mean?

The image contains Content Credentials (C2PA) that do not explicitly state AI generation. Social platforms may still use this manifest to apply labels, so review the details before sharing.

Can it remove invisible AI watermarks such as SynthID?

No. SynthID and similar watermarks are embedded in the pixels, not in the metadata. The tool only handles metadata and never changes pixels.

Will Facebook or Instagram still show an AI label after cleaning?

Labels based on metadata (C2PA, IPTC) lose their source. Platforms may still use other signals or ask you to disclose AI-generated content yourself — follow each platform’s policy.

What is removed and what is kept?

Removed: GPS location, date/time and camera settings, author, copyright, captions, software, edit history, previews, AI source labels (IPTC DigitalSourceType, XMP, prompts) and Content Credentials (C2PA). Kept: dimensions, orientation, ICC color profile, image data and animation.

Is the tool free?

Yes. Because all processing happens on your device, there is no server cost per image, so the tool is free and requires no sign-up.

Disclaimer

Important disclaimer

What this tool does

  • Reads the metadata stored in your image files and shows it in a report — entirely inside your browser.
  • Removes metadata blocks (EXIF, XMP, IPTC, C2PA, AI prompts) at the byte level without re-encoding the pixels.
  • Analyzes each cleaned file again so you can verify which blocks were removed.

What this tool cannot do

  • It cannot detect or remove invisible watermarks embedded in the pixels, such as SynthID.
